Our Speaker This Month
Kim Hartz ~ The Art of Pet Photography

Kim Hartz has always viewed life differently, thanks to a camera given to her as a child. Over the years she has honed her art, specializing in pet and infant photography, gaining recognition within the photography industry, earning a certification with the Professional Photographers of America.

The pictures Hartz takes for her clients capture the unique essence of each subject, producing a true work of art that is both timeless and precious. The connection between pet owner and pet is especially poignant, and one of her favorite subjects. She is passionate about animals, so much so, that she conceptualized Week of Rescues, a collection of animal-saving groups. For one week Hartz photographed various breeds that correlated with pet rescue groups. Hartz is also involved in numerous organizations such as Golden Beginnings.

Hartz joins an elite group of less than 2,000 photographers worldwide with a
Professional Photographer Certification, and her skill is evident in each frame. In order to gain the exclusive certification, Hartz passed a comprehensive written exam, which measured her technical expertise. She also submitted her work to a panel of judges for review and approval. Hartz maintains her prestigious certification, renewing her credentials every five years through continuing education. Hartz continues to develop her expertise by being a member of Professional Photographers of America, and she is the one of the directors at large for the Professional Photographer's Guild of Houston.

Most recently, Hartzʼs photographs were accepted into General and Loan Collection of Professional Photographers of America's (PPA) 2011 International Photographic Competition. Her three photos titled “Living Art”, “Lady Ridgeback” and “Alfie” were among the pictures chosen to be on display the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center alongside other photographic works from PPAʼs photographic competition and traveling and special invitational displays.

Kim Hartz Photography is an accredited Better Business Bureau boutique photography studio located in Houston, Texas. To learn more about Kim Hartz Photography, call (713) 521-7272 or visit www.kimhartz.com

Upcoming Member's Slideshow Meeting ~ August

Coming up in August, we'll be hosting a member's slideshow meeting! This is a great chance to show off your photos and see what everyone else has been up to. Pick 5-10 of your favorite photos to share with the club and email them to our webmaster, Blake Corcoran. Depending on how many photos are submitted, we might have to cut some out in order for everyone to have a chance to present. In order to help us know which photos to cut if necessary, please name your photos with the following guide: lastname-firstinitial-#. Where the # is, place the number of importance of your photo (1 being most important to share and 10 least). For example, if you have a specific photo that you must share, save it Doe-J-1.jpg. If you have any questions, please ask Blake Corcoran.
