WPC Fall Photography Contest
Judging and critiques of entries in the Fall Photo Contest will take place October 26 from 6:30-8:00pm at the South Branch of the Montgomery County Library. Note that this gathering will replace the normal photography club meeting in October. For those wishing to enter the contest submissions will be taken October 24th, 9:30-11:30 am at the library. Please read contest rules - HERE - to ensure the acceptance of your entry.

Open - (Only category for Digitally Altered Photos)

An informative presentation on the use of lighting in photography was given at September's club meeting. From explaining basic lighting definitions and "rules" to showing the before and after results of using strobes, Vu's presentation allowed many members to grasp understanding of how using strobes in almost all photography venues can be beneficial. With all the sunshine we've had lately, maybe it's time to take advantage of those harsh shadows. Take the time to make the shadow the subject of your
Hard light is produced by a source that is smaller than the subject, like the electronic flash. However, even though the sun is larger than the earth, it is so far away that it becomes a harsh light on the earth.
Remember, the closer the object casting the shadow is to the surface, the
crisper that shadow will appear.
Take care when using the sun as your light source, plan ahead and shoot quickly, your light continually moves.......

Glenwood Cemetery Tour
Enjoy the morning with Gary White, a member of the Professional Tour Guide Assn. of Houston, for a tour of the Glenwood Cemetery. Glenwood's design takes advantage of the ravines leading to Buffalo Bayou to create a rolling landscape unique in Houston. It was landscaped in a naturalistic style with curving roads and walkways. http://www.glenwoodcemetery.org
Fee: $15-$20 based on participation.

Houston Museum of Natural Science
Tour and photograph within the Museum and the Cockrell Butterfly Exhibit. We will have full after-hour access to all the permanent exhibits.
For those interested, a carpool will leave the library at 4:30pm.
Registration and $10 fee must be received no later than the November 9th WPC meeting.

Photoshop Elements Part II
For those that didn't get enough in the September workshop, please come join us for Part II which will focus primarily on the Editor features of Photoshop elements. Presented by Janice Braud at the South Branch Montgomery Library large meeting room.
December 5, 9:00am-12:45pm
Learn how to create amazing slide shows and multi-media presentations. This workshop will step through the creation of at least two slide show/video presentations one to show the simplest version with an emphasis on ease of use along with a more complex show to demonstrate more advanced capabilities of the software. These slide/video shows can be output in dozens of ways, including DVD's, upload to You Tube, etc. (www.photodex.com) Presented by Janice Braud at the South Branch Montgomery Library large meeting room.
