Piero Toffano, won the MINI CONTEST at the meeting with this amazing picture taken in Venice, Italy with a Nikon D70s and a Nikon lens 18-70mm at
50mm at an aperture of 1/1600 sec F/4.5 at ISO 200. Congratulations Piero! Very artistic photograph.

August Activities
At our regular meeting on August 14th: Cesar Vargas, presented “A Stitch at a time”, how to take panoramic photos with any camera. Even film. Equipment. Techniques. We learned how to with this interesting topic. Very illustrative.

Antique Telephone Private Collection Photo Opportunity, the delighting photo shoot where we were taking pictures at our leisure of this unique collection. We thank you the Longs for this great opportunity.

NEW MEMBERS CORNER: We welcome the new members who are Jerry Costin, Melinda & Doug Dunlop and Don Rueter.

SPECIAL THANKS go to Janice & Nolan Braud, Susan Long and Cecilia García for the delighting snacks and refreshments they brought to our last meeting.

One technique that adds interest to photos is to have a portion of the subject matter sharp, while other areas in the picture are blurred due to movement. For example, try shooting a log or stone in a stream with the water blurred by motion or a sharp tree surrounded by wildflowers waving in the breeze. This type of photography requires the camera to be mounted on a tripod or other firm support and the camera set to a long exposure time so the movement registers as a blurr. You’ll need to take control of the shutter speed, so select aperture-priority auto exposure or metered manual to select a show shutter speed, then select a small lens aperture (big f-number). Experiment a little. The instant replay of digital is a great benefit for experimenting with different techniques like this.
