May Activities
At our regular meeting on May 8th:

During our May regular meeting, Mike Guidry, president of WPC, threw on the table some different ideas to discuss with the membership. It was a very interesting night, giving us some insight into the main interests of the members (at least those who were present). After this, we will try to work on incorporating these ideas into our planning for the club in the coming months.

SPEAKER SPEAKER Catalina Montaño, "Curating with a Discerning Eye”. She will talk about curating for exhibition purposes as she has extensive experience in these field.


MINI MEMBER SLIDE SHOW: Bring your slides to share with the group. We have 15 minutes to share pictures.

MINI CONTEST THEME: PEOPLE Bring any two images for the mini-contest.


Saturday, June 10 & June 24 -- Jerry Walls, columnist at the Conroe Courier, will lead guided birding trips to the Clarann Estate in Chapel Hill, Washington Co. Clarann Estate has a bit of everything to offer any nature lover. There are manicured botanical gardens, tree canopied walk-ways, open wildflower meadows, a 7 acre lake, 2 creeks, hardwood bottomland forest and more. It is 63 acres of birders (or butterfly/wildflower enthusiasts) paradise. If you like to take nature photographs, it provides you wonderful opportunities to do so. Cost per person is $22 which includes transportation from Christmas Creek Nature Preserve (near Richards) to and from Clarann. More info

Saturday, July 22 -- 9 AM-5 PM WORKSHOP

Photoshop CS & CS2: JUST FOR MEMBERS -Morning session for beginners, afternoon for intermediate, by J Braud and B Rodríguez. The morning session will have an introduction to tools and basic functions - then allow questions to determine how the rest of the time is spent. The afternoon will be more structured to cover specific topics, including raw processing, automation (actions and batch processing), layers, masks, blending options, filters, etc. More info

4) Canon EOS Digital Rebel 6.3 Megapixel, $1,200. This camera was bought because of a job I was taking w/ a newspaper. I ended up not getting it, so it has been waiting for someone to use it. It works great and comes with TWO lenses: The 18mm-35mm and Canon Zoom lens EF, 75-300mm, f4-5.6 with image stabilizer. This is a great camera. Contact Gabriel García for details.


STUDIO FOR RENT Clark Lara has a full studio with Norman Lights, High Key white wall, as well as 3 different muslins. No props you would have to supply your own. SPECIAL PRICE $50 an hour. The high key is great for everything from product shots to high fashion.

JUNE - For Several Weeks - Barbara Edmondson and Cecilia García, members from WPC, are having a photographic exhibition at K Reneé on 3100 Timmons, Houston, TX 77027. This exhibition features beautiful photographs from these valuable members.

The Woodlands Photography Club
is an organization formed
to support area photographers of all ages, skill levels, and interests to advance in their ability to create truly satisfying images.  In the process, we all become great friends, enjoy field trips and outings together, and learn from each other.

 We meet on the second Monday of every month from 6:30 to 9 P.M. at the Library just west of The Woodlands Pavilion(The Montgomery County South Branch Library
at 2101 Lake Robbins Dr.) in the meeting room immediately to your
as you enter the front doors. Visitors and the curious are always most welcome!

MEMBERSHIP. Anyone interested in photography, no matter what your age or level of experience (professional, amateur, or wannabe), is most welcome to join our club. Membership is a measly $20/person or $30/couple per year (worth getting married for!).

NEWSLETTER. Our monthly online newsletter goes out around the first week of each month (you are reading the current issue).  We keep all back issues archived on our club website.

MEMBER GALLERIES. Each member can have a gallery of his or her best images online. Contact Nolan Braud for gallery help ([email protected]).
