APRIL Activities

At our regular club meeting on April 11, Kent Francis, local astrophotographer, spoke at our General Meeting. He discussed what kinds of astrophotos people can take with their current equipment and how to get the best results. He also showed what an amateur astronomer can do with equipment that is on the market. Thanks, Kent, for sharing your knowledge.

On April 2, WPC had a booth on Earth Day at Market Square at Town Center. We had pictures to display, met people interested in photography and helped WPC to be known in town.

On April 16, we had a field trip to MERCER ARBORETUM. Plants from around the world, including those found in tropical rainforests, deserts and wetlands were found at Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens.

Special thanks for refreshments for the last meeting! thanks to Maria Leiva, who brought drinks, Mike Guidry brought cookies, and Dianna Montoya brought the salty snack. WPC really appreciate your help.

MAY ADVENTURE BEING PLANNED

Ken Means is organizing a great photo field trip to northern Arizona (north of the Grand Canyon) for the third week in May. The group will photograph the famous windcarved rocks of Paria Canyon and Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness -- where he has obtained a very rare permit to hike into the canyon (only 10 allowed per day). The group will also photograph Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell (from a pontoon boat), and other interesting red-rock areas.

The group will meet Friday, May 19 at Page, Arizona and continue through Wednesday, May 25 and possibly beyond. There are 2 spots still available on the Paria Canyon permit, while there's no limit to how many can come for the other photo adventures. If interested contact Ken Means directly.
