Photo of the Month (at top):  CESAR VARGAS WINNER OF THE MINI CONTEST with this shot taken at the historical area of Houston. Pentax 6711 was used with a 45 mm. Circular Polarizer. Fuji NPC120 ISO 160. Congratulations Cesar!

OCTOBER Activities

At our monthly meeting Jeff Penn, Nikon rep. for South Texas and Louisiana, was our speaker. He brought several of Nikon's digital cameras, as well as information on the D2X which will be available next year.

Special Thanks to Bill Wright for the delicious cookies he provided for the meeting.

MINI MEMBER SLIDE SHOW

Nolan & Janice Braud shared their beautiful work on National Parks. Those images were delightful and the information that Janice gave was very educational. Thanks to both of them.

CAR CLUB CALENDAR PHOTO PROJECT

The Woodlands Car Club for 2005 calendar is ready!!!! We had a great time and a challenging workshop taking these car photographs. Thanks to Debbie Alamilla, Janice & Nolan Braud, Brenda Driscoll, Fernando & Cecilia García, Dave McConnachie, Dot Mullinax, and Steve Rutledge for participating in this project. Congratulations on a terrific job! If you want to buy a calendar there will be available at our next meeting. All the money will go for a charity donation.


NOVEMBER

MONTHLY MEETING & PHOTOGRAPHIC CRITIQUE

Monday, November 8 -6:30 to 9 PM

At our regular club meeting on Nov. 8, awards will be presented and our photo judges Hal Power (Former NY commercial photographer) and Jim Godbold (Former National Geographic director of photography) will critique our portfolio submissions.

Time for new Board Members nominations. Elect 2005 Officers.

FotoFest workshop: FotoFest and Houston Center for Photography have organized an evening Workshop: Making the Most of FotoFest 2006. The themes The Earth and Artists Responding to Violence. more info

Uptown Tree Lighting Ceremony: When half a million holiday lights simultaneously eliminate 80 Christmas trees lining Post Oak Blvd., it signals the start of the season. Choirs, bands and fireworks show help stir up holiday spirit of Thanksgiving. The abundant decorations and lights on area skyscrapers add to the dazzling display all season long (713 621 2011).

MONTHLY MEETING & CHRISTMAS PARTY
Monday, December 13 -- 6:30 to 9 P.M.

At our regular club meeting on Dec. 13, several members will share some of their recent best images. We’re having our Christmas Party and ask all members to bring a dessert, a salad, or a casserole to share. Time to renew your 2005 membership.

Please note this meeting will be on WEDNESDAY instead of Monday night.

At our regular club meeting the board officers will discuss and plan 2005 events with the membership. Bring your fresh ideas to the table though we will have a lot of success with our next year events.

MEMBER'S SUCCESSES TO SHARE

Congratulations to Barbara Edmondson for selling her pictures at MacKenzie's Contemporary American Style gallery in Old Town Spring. Barbara sold her first print in Sept. during the Art Walk. Last Saturday, Oct. 30, she sold a print and a greeting card. What an accomplishment!

Cecilia García recently was honored by having her Bora Bora photograph chosen by the Houston Center for Photography for its 23rd. Anniversary fund raising auction. Her print is one of 23 chosen from the greater Houston area.

ABOUT OUR CLUB



The Woodlands Photography Club
is an organization formed
to support area photographers of all ages, skill levels, and interests to advance in their ability to create truly satisfying images.  In the process, we all become great friends, enjoy field trips and outings together, and learn from each other.

MEETINGS.
 We meet on the second Monday of every month from 6:30 to 9 P.M. at the Library just west of The Woodlands Pavilion(The Montgomery County South Branch Library
at 2101 Lake Robbins Dr.) in the meeting room immediately to your
left
as you enter the front doors. Visitors and the curious are always most welcome!

MEMBERSHIP. Anyone interested in photography, no matter what your age or level of experience (professional, amateur, or wannabe), is most welcome to join our club. Membership is a measly $20/person or $30/couple per year (worth getting married for!).

NEWSLETTER. Our monthly online newsletter goes out around the first week of each month (you are reading the current issue).  We keep all back issues archived on our club website.

MEMBER GALLERIES. Each member can have a gallery of his or her best images online. Contact Nolan Braud for gallery help ([email protected]).
