APRIL Activities (by Carolyn Nash)

April meeting was well attended with over 33 members and visitors. The meeting began at 6:30 with a social and viewing of the eleven mini-contest entries, followed by the business meeting. President Debbie Alamilla reminded everyone of the photo op at the Annual Keels & Wheels auto show May 1 - 2 at Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, and of the club picnic at Shadowbend Park on July 10th. She also reminded everyone of the Spring 2004 competition and that entries must be submitted between 12:30 and 2 on May 1st at the library, and will be on display in the library for a month. The "Member Presentation" portion of the meeting was a beautiful slide presentation given by Barbara Edmondson and included slides taken last October on a trip to Southern Utah. Richard Underwood, formerly of NASA, was the featured speaker on "Photographic Journey to the Moon: A Look Backwards." Everyone enjoyed the historical photographs from early space exploration to present along with the many behind the scene stories that accompanied them. Dave McConnachie for the second time was the winner of the mini contest with Bill Wright and Carolyn Kosclskey coming in 2nd and 3rd. Many thanks to Barbara Edmondson and Cheryl Stilzlein for the refreshments.

PHIL GRAYSON on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS MOVIE

For 9 days in early April Phil got to work as an 'extra' on a high school
football movie called Friday Night Lights. It's being produced by
Universal City Studios and has Billy Bob Thorton and Tim McGraw in it. The final scenes were shot at the Astrodome. He got to take some digital shots a couple of days and they are posted at this site:
http://www.Kelsoes.com/fridaynights
There are some interesting shots of cameras and how things work on a movie set. Mostly its just people mugging for their friends. Thank you Phil, for sharing this experience with us.
